The brief

This was a pure passion project, helping a long-time friend's family get their independent drinks business off the ground by concocting their brand story and tone of voice to their tastes.

Everything was done in collaboration with a graphic designer pal to create a standout brand that reflects Barrie’s personality.

The approach

Having grown up in St. Thomas and emigrated early on in life, Barrie had lived extraordinary life with little need for embellishment. His passion for fusing flavours that delighted his nearest and dearest spoke for itself - it was just a matter of listening.

Each flavour Barrie had brewed up was closely tied to his relationship with his aunt back home, with almost endless stories to tell that you couldn’t help but get drawn into. The hard part was condensing it down to just one single narrative for the brand!

The drinks themselves needed to feel authentic, with each one’s profile modelled off of classic Caribbean beverages with a dancehall vibe to the visual identity. These were then partnered up with copy that sings with Barrie’s personal tone of voice to work his charm across each bottle.

The outcome

A smooth launch across local retailers in Leeds to be enjoyed by many, with bigger moves on the horizon. Barrie and the family were all chuffed with the creative and haven't changed a thing since (apart from moving to glass bottles for a greener product!).
